Regaining Your Spinal Curve
Members of the community and of my practice have asked me to write about the importance of a healthy spine and the significance of normal spinal curves. Often I hear a patient say "my spine cures at my neck" or "I have a straight neck". There are many systems in the human body that need to be in range in order for your cells to heal and function optimally for an good spinal curve. Blood pressure, sugar levels, cholesterol, temperature and heart rate just to name a few. We are familiar with these measurements because we have had them checked annually since birth. The measurements most people are unaware of that are equally important are the spinal curve angles. To explain these curves simply, when you look at a spine from front to back, it should be straight with no curves. However, when you look at a spine from the side (lateral view), you should have 3 curves from neck to low back. A spine with proper alignment and angles is stronger, flexible and has more stability. Loss of neck and/or low back curves force the weight of the head and mid-back forward causing headaches, neck pain, mid-back pain and low back pain. This dynamic shift causes the disc tissue to lose water and wear away while surrounding bones take on a degenerative or arthritis condition. Also, a reversed neck curve increases the spinal cord vulnerability to traumas, stress, poor posture and accidents.

The staff was very friendly and professional. Most importantly, all of the different therapy and adjustment procedures are second to none! Enjoyed every second I was here. Will schedule many more!

How did I lose my spinal curve?
The causes of a decreased spinal curve are traumas or accidents, poor posture, and bad habits. X-rays will show us exactly where the issues are and approximately how long an injury has been there which allows my chiropractic team and me to give an accurate time frame of how long treatments are needed to correct the cause of most acute/chronic pain, symptoms and concerns. We correct spinal misalignments through Pettibon and ChiropracticBioPhysics(CBP) systems. As shown below, healing takes time. Compare it to braces. It takes an average of 2-3 years of wearing braces to straighten teeth. Why would it be any less to straighten your spine? However, we have perfected our technique and have seen major changes within a few months.

Below are a few examples of previous clients at Carpe Diem Chiropractic that complained of neck pain and headaches:

Neurologists suggest that the structure of the spine can be directly related to overall function. Interference in the nervous system is caused by abnormal function of the spine, and poor body mechanics (posture). Gray’s Anatomy states that the nervous system controls all functions of the body. In order to improve your spinal curve and overall health, it is recommended that you contact a corrective care Fort Lauderdale chiropractor who does pre and post x-rays to show you the spinal changes made. The techniques we use at Carpe Diem Chiropractic reinforce the natural C lordotic curve creating improved spinal mechanics, decreased pain, joint nutrition, flexibility, better posture and the likelihood of reduced adjustments. I look forward to improving your spinal curve. Contact Fort Lauderdale chiropractor, Dr. Barak Meraz at: (954) 371-2170 for our Plantation location or (954) 350-0077 for Fort Lauderdale.
